# How we check facts

Source page: https://underthebehavior.com/methods

How Under the Behavior checks every claim: a source list per episode, a written fact check, labelled quotes and reconstructions, and a corrections log.

Every claim on the channel and this site comes from a source we list, and every episode has a written fact check.
1.

**Every claim needs a source.** Each episode has a source list with a DOI or a link for every paper, article, court record and book it uses. No source, no line.
2.

**Every fact is checked and marked.** A written fact check lists each claim, the source and the words in that source that back it. A claim we could only confirm from an abstract or a second hand account is said with care, or cut. A claim nobody could confirm stays out.
3.

**Quotes are labelled.** A quoted document is retyped in our own style and tagged with where it comes from, for example "Quoted from The New York Times, March 27, 1964".
4.

**Pictures say what they are.** Drawn scenes, maps and reconstructions are labelled on screen. Archive pictures are used only when we know their rights.
5.

**Tests stay honest.** The tests on this site show what you did, then the original study's own numbers with the paper. They never score you, rank you or say what you have.
